The Rock Island Grand Prix, presented by AT&T and Casey's General Stores, is the world's largest karting street race, run through the city streets of Rock Island, Illinois, each Labor Day Weekend. Rock Island is part of the Quad-Cities, located on the Mississippi River and equally divided between Illinois and Iowa with a metropolitan population of 380,000. It is one of the few places in kart racing where 4-cycle, 2-cycle and gearbox karts all race at the same venue and where thousands of spectators line the streets to cheer on the racers. Founded by veteran driver Bryan Herta and noted race engineer Steve Newey, Bryan Herta Autosport (BHA) debuted in Firestone Indy Lights competition in 2009. The World Karting Association (WKA) is a membership- owned, non-profit corporation formed in 1971 to regulate and promote the sport of competitive kart racing. We establish the rules and procedures to set standards by which to sanction tracks and to conduct annual championships for various types of karting. WKA has grown to over 10,000 active members and 120 sanctioned tracks nationwide to make it the largest sanctioning body for kart racing in the United States and one of the largest in the world.

Helix offer photography and in-car video for all Skip Barber on track programs, and photography for all other Skip Barber programs. Please contact Helix in advance of your program for any questions, or to sign up for services.
Helix uses Nikon cameras for photography, and GoPro and AIM Smartycams for in-car videography. The AIM Smartycams are unique in offering lap times, speeds and GForces, which are overlayed in real-time on the video.
At the end of your school, Helix will send you home with a USB drive with your photos and/or video.
