Trebing to Compete in Scirocco R-Cup
After two seasons of competition in the
BFGoodrich/Skip Barber National presented by Mazda, nineteen year old Dennis
Trebing is packing his bags and heading to Europe
to compete in the 2011 Volkswagen Scirocco R-Cup. After winning a
scholarship in the 2009 Skip Barber Racing School Karting Scholarship
Shootout, Trebing went on to compete in the 2010 Skip Barber National
season. Trebing finished fourth in the championship standings with eight
top-five finishes, five podiums, three wins and two pole positions. This
year, he will be one of 21 drivers selected to compete in the DTM partner
series, competing at eight events with ten races on legendary tracks such
as Brands Hatch and Nürburgring. Trebing will pilot a 2-liter, turbo 225
horsepower machine that reduces CO2 emissions by 80 percent, as a result
of bio natural gas. During the race events, drivers will also have push-to-pass,
an allotment of a 50 extra-horsepower boost to be used throughout the
event.
The Florida
native looks forward to representing Skip Barber
Racing School
in front of a European audience as 2010 produced an average of 86,000
spectators at each event. “I
am very excited and proud to have raced with Skip Barber
Racing School
and want to thank them for all of the opportunities and experiences they
have given me," said Trebing. “I feel like I am more then prepared
for the upcoming racing season in Europe
with Volkswagen Motorsports in the Scirocco R-Cup!” The Scirocco R-Cup events
will also be broadcasted live on the Sport 1 channel in Germany
as well as 15 networks in 56 countries.
With a proven track record behind him and a full
season of racing ahead, Trebing will have the help of the following
sponsors: Trebing Tile, Uwe
Alzen Automotive, Forch, JD Neuhaus Hoists, International Complete
Wheels, Uvex, Piloti, XS Energy Sports, Cape Coral Charter Boats,
and Klaus Bialon Pool Service.
